Our Clinics
Over time some conditions may develop. Although some of these are more likely to develop later in life, it’s important to have regular eye examinations to allow us to monitor your eye health. If a condition does develop, we offer comprehensive eye care solutions. We will talk you through all of the options to ensure that you can make an informed decision on what you would like to do. We offer both medical clinics and non-medical consultations that each focus on different topics, but the aim of each is to keep you feeling your best.
Dry Eye Clinic
A debilitating condition that causes a lot of discomfort, dry eye disease can make daily tasks and activities difficult to complete. It occurs when your eyes aren’t producing enough tears, or the tears they are producing evaporate too quickly. This subsequently dries out your eyes, causing inflammation and irritation. Symptoms can include light sensitivity, sore or red eyes, burning sensation in the eyes and difficulty opening eyes in the morning.
Our expert optometrists will conduct an examination to check your eyes and talk to you about your lifestyle to determine the factors that may be causing it. From this they will be able to put together a personalised plan to improve the condition, with regular check-ups to observe progress. Treatments can include cleaning the lid margins and warm compresses that will help to improve tear flow.
Macular Degeneration Clinic
Macular degeneration (AMD) is typically an age-related condition that occurs later in life. However, less common types can occur at any age. There are two main types of this condition: wet AMD and dry AMD. Wet AMD can be more serious due to its sudden onset and can occur at any age. Dry AMD is more commonly associated with age and its development is slower. In both cases, the central part of the eye deteriorates which results in loss of vision.
Symptoms can include blurry vision, gaps in vision, objects changing size shape or colour, dark spots and words disappearing when reading. There are other symptoms related to AMD and so it is important to have regular eye exams to monitor for any that may manifest. Our specialists will discuss the condition with you and talk you through possible treatments or lifestyle changes that may help to elevate symptoms.
